    hey

my hermits lasted 2 weeks and then both died on me?

    why would this be?

they where eating really well to? would it be the water conditions maybe?

    :(

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I would start by checking and listing parameter to rule it out. Hermits can be sensitive to swings in SG and pH.

Were there any available empty shells for them to move into as they molted and grew?

What are your water conditions? Can you, please, post your parameters?
Have you done anything differently lately?

tank is nearly a month old

im new to marine fish keeping

only had 2 hermits, they where not shedding cos only had them like a week

    ph 8.0
kh might be a little high thinkin bout it?

had no decent empty shells, think the ones i put in where 2 big, its hard to gauge the right size

    not tested for SG?

they kepted eating but when the fell off the rock they would stay in their shells n not move, so i would turn them over all the time?

You should test for specific gravity every couple days and only top off with fresh RO/DI water.

Are you adding any supplements to the tank?

If you could list any parameters you have like temperature and such that would help as well.

Hermits can molt at any time and may do so in response to stress from acclimation. Make sure they are not molting before removing them from the tank. They usually just sit in one spot for a day or two.

    Hope that helps.

How did you cycle the tank? What are the ammonia and nitrite readings?

was putting a buffer in once, because the guy at the pet shop said i needed 2 put by ph up slightly, but doing this made the kh go up, so not gona bother putting in anymore.

temp has been slighty on the high side maybe 27

    whats fresh ro/di?

Fresh water that has been purified so to speak through reverses osmosis and or deionized.

When water evaporates in the tank, only the water evaporates and the concentration of the salt increases as the water evaporates. Your SG can climb up very high unless you take this into account and use fresh water for top.
