I had 2 commensal worm things on the coral when I got it and then a hermit crab in my tank was attacking the area with the comensal worms so I put the crab in the sump a little damage was already done. It caused some algae in that area. I took a tooth brush and brushed the algae off but it just comes back. I made it worse. I try putting a snail on that area now. Should I frag this area from the coral? My LFS has a band saw. Will this eventually heal if the damaged area was removed. The area still has tissue because there is no white. What do you guys think I should do?

Iodine dips will help with healing. Only frag if the damage keeps growing.

I dipped it after I took a soft toothbrush to take off the hair algae. It is not growing but the area does not seem to heal either. My LFS has a wet saw but I guess it could damage more of the coral. I don't want to stress it out anymore by taking it out again to re dip it.
