    nitrates are fine as long as the tank isnt sps dominant.....nems, lps, and softies mostly enjoy some nitrates

    Not unusual with the lights off...many nems will look different at night as they go into "prey catching" mode...they try to position themselves so they have the best chance to catch an unsuspecting critter in the dark.
