I'm finally upgrading my lighting.. I will be getting a viper 150w MH clip on with a 14k bulb on tuesday.. Whats the best way of acclimating my corals? I know my light will be up high since its a 150w light, but how many hours on should I start my light at??? Most of you know what kind of corals I have but heres's a FTS......

yeah.. I know people are thinking heat issues also.. But my 72 watts of pc's are in a hood and I unplugged my heater to check something and forgot to plug it back in and my temp was down to 74 before I caught it.. Luckily nothing was affected.. 3x24 pc's now with 50/50 bulbs...

depending on the output increase you may not need to do anything in particular. I have never done anything special to light acclimate, except maybe move a couple of "prized" pieces lower to avoid any problems for about a week and then back to where they were. I've doubled and tripled my light output on a few different tanks with no adverse effects. Like I said, I still play it safe with the big money pieces.

if you are worried(and since you dont have much room) just keep the pendant up high, and gradually bring it closer to the surface.

I would start it high and inch it closer daily. Also, how old were the bulbs in the old fixture little "G"?
