help weid stuff growing in tank

    i got home just now 2 noice weid stuff growing on eveything like someone drop dust in the tank i did a water change yesterday and everything was fine it was fine this morning or is it some thing that happens at night ? it like fine little roots covered in dust a sawdust colour on all the rocks and some corals what is it ?

    I think that's calcium build up? I've had it on my rocks and in water before. It seems to happen overnight, but hasn't happened in my tank in a while.

    Pic would help, could be diatoms, phytoplankton or possibly dinoflagelates.

    Did you kick up a lot of "dust" when you did your maintenance... you could have disturbed detritus that has now settled.

    i put 2 new rocks in the other day and got 2 blue streak who made a hell of a mess when making there home burrowing the sand everywere it was cool 2 see but they keep picking up sand and droping it from up high it goes over eveything

    Yeah I would say it is sediment most likely. Occasionally when my crabs move around in my LR I used to see what looked like a plume of smoke - turns out it was sediment/detritus from the LR, which the crabs were
    "playing" in.
