do you suck the "dirt" off the sand when you do your wc? the only way i have ever been able to keep my sand clean is with a diamond goby. i even bought a bunch of snails that were supposed to eat cyano and nope. its still there.

lack of flow down near the bottom of your tank could be causing this, I have had dead spots grow algae on there, try adding some flow down near there and see if that doesn't help.

If I get much more flow it makes a sand storm and it blows all the sand off the bottom

Sugar fine sand tends to do that.

    Improve flow as mentioned above.

I do not see a reason why you should put off adding corals.

How should I do that? Should I buy a koraline nano and add it? I'm afraid I won't have any substrate if I move my powerhead

Just have to play with the direction a lot, frustrating I know. Increase surface agitation too if you can.

Moby at some point if you stir up the sand and cause a sand storm it will naturally settle. The owner at my LFS has a hill on each side of her tank because her pumps have blown her sand around to a point where the substrain is totally displaced and she can see the base glass in large area's. Let it stir up the sand you'll be fine.

I like to use sand sifters for fine sand systems. Strombus conches are sweet, as well as heart urchins
