I use IO salt and when I mix in a 40g container I just pour salt in and let a modified MJ1200 run to mix and have no problems. I also run a heater and air stone in there to because I use this water for an emergency if needed.

If your not going to use a PH in the container you need to mix more often for it to dissolve.

Over time, you should learn how much salt mix to use for a given amount of water to the teaspoon to get right sg.

Airstone, warm water, and a little time...and should be no problems...

I use Red Sea coral pro. 2 1/4 cups per 5 gallons equals 1.024 sg. I use a powerhead and a heater set to tank temperature and let mix for two days.

Ahh... thanks everyone for the suggestions. As, the current way I am doing it has lots of undissolved salt particles floating around. Here are some new things I will try

    1) warmer water should help the salt dissolved
    2) Airstone... should keep things moving and circulating (I do not have a powerhead thing... so an airstone is the best I have)
    3) A little more patience should do the trick.

    Thanks everyone... -Adam

I use a 5 gallon bucket filled with RO/DI water. Add 2.5 cups of Instant Ocean. Throw in a Stealth 200w heater dialed to 79 & a maxi-jet 1200 ph. Let it mix/warm overnight & test temp/salinity the next day. If all is well, I remove the maxi-jet & stick vinyl tubing on the output and shoot it into the tank, easy as pie.
