It's had to see it so I'll have to ask some Questions.

    It's brown or redish?
Does it blow around like dust or in sheets
    How old it the tank?

hi there this photo was taken with all lights off ie at night time.
it is like a green slime substance on the walls of the tank (400l) and brown in some places.
the tank has moved home and is around 12 weeks old.

It is normal when a tank is first set up to have that kind of algae. It will go away in a few weeks. Is there any fish in it?

yes my friend there are 6 green chromis, 4 anthias, 1 yellow tang and 1 regal tang + 1 common clown fish.
the tank is 400l and is lit by twin 250w metal halide+ 2 actinic tubes
i think the algae is some sort of diatom but have decided to stop cleaning off the glass as it causes it to spread on the live rock.
ps i live in england so access to certain snails etc is limited.

So what do you mean by "Moved Home". Was the tank completely set up some where else and you have moved it. or is it a new tank set up 12 weeks ago.

For those who speak in Gallons it's a 105G tank. Big sucker :)

    Mark,

Please post the specifics of your tank in your signature. In example; how old it is, how large, what filtration, skimmer etc.

Water parameters would be useful too.

At first glance, I'm with Jason. It looks like a cycle issue. At 12 weeks you are still cycling, plus that is a lot of fish for a tank that is still cycling. Slow down and keep doing water changes.
