I have an issue with my lights and timer power strip. The lights come with a GFCI plug. When the timer power strip turns the lights OFF at night the GFCI trips and the reset button has to be pushed before the lights will come back ON. Is something wrong with my equipment or is it something I did wrong?

Rid yourself of the GFCI. They are more potential harm than good. Instead, buy a grounding probe and surge protectors.

Plug the GFCI into the wall, the powerstrip into that, and the light into the powerstrip.

Yeah, I was thinking about just cutting it off and installing a normal 3 prong plug.

Do you have a warranty on your light still? If so, I would advise against cutting the GFI off of it.
