Hi over the past week or so there has been an outbreak of this algae stuff.

It is a thin layer covering the sand and starting to cover some rock.

I managed to pick some up out of the tank but it grew back really quickly.

Its a black colour or i guess it could be seen as a very dark green.

Any idea what it is? and any CUC that will demolish this stuff?

    Thanks

it could be cyano,it can show up with different colors from almost black to light pink(mabey someone will chime in and correct me if i'm wrong)but doing a water change, lessen feedings and increasing flow can help if that what it is.I'm having the same battle myself,i turned up my powerheads to full flow and changed there positions, and have done a couple water changes along with feeding less and now it's starting to go away.

Grinder is right....it's cyano. It's not an algae but it's photosynthetic just the same.
