HELP! ID these white disc things

    they dont shrink swell or change when the lights go out and they dont do anything to when u touch them...they feel soft almost like red bubble algae but firm when squeezed like a pea pod or something....they got me stumped lol

    the white discs are far to large to be Foraminiferans. tose are described as being 1.5-2mm these discs are 1/2" as seen in the pics. they are not magnified in any way.

    What kind of snails do you have in the tank? Those look like whelk eggs. Several groups of gastropods produce these big stacked egg cases.

    Sweet i win a cool ID thread. They are nerite egg cases. I have them all over my tank too and we id'd them in a thread a month back. I think it was Inwall but not 100%

    Only if his nerites are about 5 inches diameter and they stack their egg casings on top of each other.

    No they're definately not nerite egg cases. I was thinking a type of macro-algae.

    I was thinking some type of halimeda except there is no green. This is very interesting.

    John has some from time to time. It looks a little bit like lobophobias *sp
