I have finally talked myself into taking the plung into SW. I plan on doing a small reef tank in a recently purchased 29g Coralife Biocube. I'll be adding a Hydor slim skim nano skimmer and 1 or 2 Hydor nano 425 wavers as the first initial mods. I'm nerding out really hard recently online, trying to absorb as much info I can about the basics, and wanted to get on to a forum, so here I am. I have a few degrees in Fisheries Science, So I hope I can call on some of my education to reduce the learning curve. Wish me luck...

welcome to the forum redd! I'm in Cincinnati - where in Ohio are you? I'm sure your education will come into play in terms of your learning and applying the information to your first reef. You're in good company - many of us "nerd out" on information daily :)

Great tank to start with "never had 1 myself but many happy customers".
I have a red sea 130d and innovative 38l so similar volume tanks

    1 item to consider

ATO (auto top off). I have a Tunze 3155(on 38l) and 3152(on 130d) on mine. Happy with both but the 3152 is cheaper. You could always manually add top off water but ATO is 1 of those items that makes things a little bit easier(only have to fill my 5gl bucket up once a week or so depending on summer vs winter). Also helps with stability in parameters. Believe me you will occasionally forget to top tank off for day or 2 and that is when you get your parameter swings.

    Anyways welcome to 3reef..
