Hi my name is Anthony. I have been keeping fish fresh and salwater for many years but this is the first time I attempt keeping corals so I consider my self a newbie. I currently have a 25 gallon cube, with a sump, bp reactor, protein skimmer, live rock and corals that are not doing great.

How long has your tank been set up?

A couple of months. I think the problem I am having is with temperature swings. We have been having extremely hot weather in Puerto Rico. My water temp has reached 85 F. I dont have a chiller yet. :(

Yeah, that temp (and the swings) are not very good - you want stability.

Have you tried putting a small fan aimed at the water? They make some for that and it cooled down my tank a good amount

Definitely get a fan on that bad boy asap, I used to have one one my sump to cool the tank and it worked great as a cheap fix. Only downside was the amount of evaporation, but it kept my corals happy.

Well I am now urgently trying to purchase a chiller. The heat is unbearable.

A chiller will help keep things cool and consistent, that's what you want. If your tank is at peak temp when you hook the chiller up just make sure you cool things gradually. I like 78 but whatever you choose it's keeping it stable that's more important than a number. Welcome to 3reef.
