Hello, It has been a long while since my last visit to 3reef. I moved to an island of the coast of Maine and was not able to take my tank. Im back in the Rocky Mts area now though. I see many new members! Cheers to you all...

Anyway my tank was under care of a friend and , Oh Dear God !!!

I now have Hair algae, and bubble algae over growth...

I also now have something else, what is is has me at a loss, I'm sure its not good. It has vines that grow fast and equally spaced out bubble patches that look like clusters of champaign grapes. The bubbles look like bubble algae but they are much smaller and form and behave much different.

Sorry for the poor picture, I was held up at knife point in Costa Rica a couple of weeks ago and someone stole my camera. This photo is from my phone.

Thanks for the help on the ID.

I dont remember the name( marcoalgae), but Its good algae. Most tangs will eat it and any other grazers also. Most ppl have it in the refuguim.

Bubble calurpa. Yank it out before it grows out of hand. That stuff spreads like wildfire and unless you have a tang or other vegetarian type fish that will eat it, it will choke out everything.

thanks, I just googled imaged "Bubble caulerpa" and the photos that came up were similar to mine but still not like what I have. There must be several species of this.... It does grow fast though.... I think it just grew a few centimeters while I wrote this....
