    I need some help, and fast...I just noticed a nasty looking red and white half inch long centipede-like worm in my tank...GROSS...Is it going to kill something?? How did it get in there?? And how do I get it out?? Help!!

    Relax!
    It is probably a fire worm or other type of polychaete worm. They are fine for your tank as long as they don't become a nuisance due to an overabundance of them.

    O, but they are so gross looking...is there any way to remove them??

    Yep, most likely a bristle worm.

    Don't use your fingers as the bristles will get into your skin and itch like crazy. Use a pair of feeding tongs or a pair of tweezers :)

    I believe you can purchase traps for capturing them, however, I am willing to bet that you have more of them and other types that you will never see.
    I would leave it as long as you don't have a large population of them.

    Yep just make sure you keep them in check, we leave the little ones but pull out any large ones.

    So...they are not going to kill anything in my tank, and nothing in my tank will eat/get rid of them??
