I'm getting really sick of finding out my tanks heater isn't accurate...I have it "set" (i use quotations because the heaters manufacturer says that each click on the nob is +2 degrees...) So technically it's set at 76, but runs at 79...but now it's running at 80, i don't like how it does that so i'm looking for a new heater...what do you guys think? something that will allow me to depend on it actually heating to the specified temp. and is it worth it to have multiple heaters IN the tank? I mean i've seen the one person on here that made the heater holder for 3 heaters (really awesome though) but is just a single 150W heater for a 29 gallon tank ok? well i take that back total volume would be 40 gallons...

I picked a few to start off with

Finnex 150w DIGITAL Titanium Heater w/controller: Premium Aquatics

Eheim-JAGER TS Heater - 150 watt: Premium Aquatics

I would love to buy a controller like a Aquacontroller JR. or something of the sort, how awesome would that be!?

Have you ruled out a temp increase from your lights?

Either way, Eheim makes nice heaters.

I use reefkeeper 2 now after going through 4 heaters dam near boiled my tank..

one thing i noticed is that you have to set it lower than what they tell you

if you want 78...set it at 74 or 75

300 watt Stealth heater in my sump...set at 76 keeps everything good at about 78 79.
    I like the stealth because of the control knob....very accurate....and reliable...and inexpensive. : )

I don't know how accurate they are, but I have been considering a controller for a while. I could be wrong on this, but I believe the idea is that the controller automatically shuts down the heater if the water exceeds a certain temperature. Kind of a backup system. If I am wrong on this guys and dolls, let me know. This is the one I was looking at for my 90g.

I just got a ViaAqua titanium heater---I love it. It even keeps the heat at the temp on the indicator!
