    We hesitate to spend as much at the lfs. Looking to make own food and refugiums and can get great deals from others that are hurting more. We are going to try to be less of a consumer.

    I stopped giving weekly allowances to my tangs, and I also stopped buying my wrasse more "bling". ;D

    Not really changed the way I maintain it. You need salt, food, additives, etc, no matter what. But I have been doing more DIY stuff with that. Specially with food. But I find DIY enjoyable and rewarding, regardless of money saved.
    I will say its definitley slowed the growth of my tank though. Can't go out and buy new corals or anything like that anymore. I had my DIY sump/fuge project going that has been totally put on hold due to a lack of funds.
    But, there's also a plus side. With the economy being as bad as it is right now, it seems there is an awful lot of people getting out of the hobby completely. If you have the money, now is the time to start searching the classifieds for reef related listings. A few of us here on 3Reef from Reno scored BIG TIME from a person getting rid of a tank this weekend.

    i needed a new pump for my return from my sump but my hours got cut at work so i can't afford it couldn't even afford a gift for my girlfriend but i still say everyday, people are worse off than me
