I guess that is good news.

Large parts of Pudget Sound, where I live, went "dead" after some politican let Japanese trawlers come in and scrape off all the bottom life.

Happened number of years ago but have mostly recovered from now.

Still the fishing is nothing like it used to be. :(

Good but bad as well! Once again human intervention and error lead to disasterous results!

its the water, they need to change hehe

    Hi,
I used to run water test in the NAvy on some of the beaches in the tidewater area and we had tremendous blooms of aglae that caused huge blooms of coliforms in the summer after the algae die off, the bay was nasty as a sewage plant.
The main reason was run off not just the doggie turds but the tons of lawn fertilizer that ran off every time it would rain talk about nitrates going sky high then the algae would burn off the nitrites and then die creating that muck on the bay beds that kills inverts and many shellfish, this feeds the bacteria that make fish sick...
Until we treat the run-off from our yards before dumping it in the oceans there's going to be red tides and fish with ulcers from bacterial infections. Its extremly costly to treat freshwater run off and would require huge resivors or wetlands.
Most cities let the run off from rain go straight in to the oceans without any pre-treatment.
The gulf stream is a river in the ocean that dosen't mix with the cooler water, so any cities along the gulf that dump their rain water, lets see theres about 20 along the gulf of mexico from texas, orleans to fla, all dumping lawn fertilizer in to the ocean its amazing anything still live.
WheI lived in the key many of the corals were showing stress from run off.
