I'm having a pretty extreme algae outbreak in my tank. It's very hard green algea, very very short. rather like coraline. It's pretty much only on the glass. The snails seem to like it, there are their "eating signs" all over the glass. They are just not fast enough.
I was about to get rid of it using a razor blade because that "magnet" doesn't clean it off.

Is that kind of algae one of the typical kinds that bloom in the beginning of a tank?

I'm talking about that green stuff on the glass ;)

It's not like a plant, it's more as if the glass is dusty. Just a lot of green dust ... You can see the snail marks pretty good on the pic.

not really. The tank is still quite new, so pretty much everything is new I do ;)
It is only on the glass too, The rocks are almost completely free and the overflow box seems to be clean too.Well, I'm just gonna clean it off and see what happens. Maybe I should get some more turbos, they really seem to like that stuff.

well sea, that was exactly my question, if it is a normal new tank stage.

but I don't have any nitrites or nitrates in my tank. Didn't have it for a while before I got it.

sea: not to be rude, but you don't really come over very friendly. It sounds as if you are telling us we are stupid for not knowing what we got there. that's, what this forum is for, isn't it?

    Yvonne,

Is it on all the glass, or only on the front? Sounds like green coraline to me.
