Will a few of them make it though an initial cycle in a 90?

Chromis are delicate. They only do good in a tank after the cycle.

That's really unfortunate the lfs sold me a green chromis to go along with a blue damsel to ride through the initial cycle. I'm thinking for the sake of the fish I'm going to take it back to the store.

That’s probably the best thing to do. You can always get one after the cycle.

My opinion is that using a living animal to cycle a tank is cruel. Opinions on it very but it is so old school thinking. Sure any "hardy" fish will survive it but it will experience discomfort from low oxygen and high ammonia and nitrites burning the tissues of the gills. Use a raw deli shrimp or NutraFin Cycle.

well, I dont reccomend to cycle with a fish anyways.. Chromis are Hardy fish, i have 8 of them on my 150G tank but it is not cool to have it go through the cycle nevertheless. I agree with taking the chromis back..

I would suggest to take both fish back to the LFS, actually. The reason is because damsels get pretty mean, and most people dont want them after the cycle anyways.

What i would do is just palce a raw shrimp in there and let it rot for a month..and test for the cycle. it does the same job and no fish gets harmed or puts you through the hassle of having to take it out later.

    I agree.

Personally, I like to use a molly, but that’s just me.
