I just got this from a friend and I was wonder if they are Grape Caulerpa. If they are, do I have to turn the light on 24/7 for it not to go sexual and release bad stuff into the water?

    Thanks!

It's either Chaetomorph or grape Caulerpa. Need to have 24/7 light schedule. Make sure you prune back the Caulerpa or you can have problems. Also, be advised that caulerpa is very toxic to most if not all fish and inverts thru time. Also, if the macro-algae goes sexual into your tank you could have tank wipe-out due to decreased water parameters and low oxygen in water. I just threw my grape caulerpa out leaving just red sea grass. I don't want to take a chance. Mangrove shoots and sea-grasses make a fine alternative because they are slightly toxic if not at all.
