So Im laying in bed not tired an unable to sleep when I decided to get up and turn on the flashlight and look in the ol' tank.

My heart skipped a beat when godzilla was looking back at me.

    Caught him with no problems

Size of this guy is about a half dollar coin.

    One huge right claw.

He is nasty.... different than a hitch hiker crab I caught a few months ago.

    K+ for correct ID.

He is going in the fuge..... Dont trust him in my reef.

Ok... so I'm back up and going for the day.

Some more useful info- what color are the eyes, does it look like he iks missing a claw? Or does he have one large one small claw naturally? How big? Like a quarter? Or a dime? Bigger?

I'll be trying to ID this guy for you today, this extra info would be helpful.....

    Thanks, Blaz3

Actaeodes or something very similar. There are hundreds of these little xanthids & many species don't have easily accessed images so it's not surprising if no one can find a match.

These may not be as bad as people think. There hasn't been a whole lot of work done on food studies except for the poisonous ones (and A. tomentosus is one of them). They are primarily algae grazers - which is why they're poisonous, they get it from dinoflagellates - and predators on smaller organisms like worms & other crustaceans. If there isn't enough food they'll turn to whatever is in the tank.
