I rearranged my tank and have room for a Vortech MP10 and have one on the way from Big Al! I am excited.

Any recs for settings on a 2'x2' tank?
(it has 3/8" glass - at the top limit for MP10 - just squeaked it in!)

My tank is rimless - any concerns there over the long run? (paranoid after reading disclaimer in MP10 online)

Can't wait! Should be here Wednesday and I can retire my old Tunze turbelle which has a much larger footprint.

I use reef crest mode too. It's varying intensities of flow. Super high flow, then low flow, then high flow, then medium flow, etc. and for different lengths of time. It simulates a reef !

I have three MP40's in my DT and i set them all to Lagoon mode - its a random setting that just keeps the flow changing. I love it. I tried the long pulse and feeding mode's -- boring :)

Reef crest mode is the same as lagoon mode except you get to set the max flow and then from there it is all random -- I don;t use that as I would set the max to the max and thus be in lagoon mode :) anyway you slice it up these are the best friggin DT pumps out there....probably also the most expensive too ! I wish you luck my friend. Do share the stories !!

I would say go with the reef crest mode. You may need to dial down the top speed if it lifts your sand.

I've always been a huge fan of short pulse mode. I am a sucker for standing waves.

One of our customers has a video of theirs that they sent to us. It is being used in a 30 gallon breeder (12" tall instead of the 18" tall 40 breeder)
    Looks pretty neat!

    Thanks all! Too cool.

So if I have an 'island' tank - clear 3 sides (blockage only on backwall) and plan on putting this on side of backwall facing front pane, will it still be affective?

FYI - This is a square tank.
I guess I am just trying to avoid having this way out in the open...

That's the beauty of the design – yes it will.
