Hi Mike, looking forward to the review.

excuse me for asking, but why Orphek?

AI has all those neat programs and so does Acan in a similar fixture.

what were the features that swayed you?

    thanks

I can get it over a 15' deep shark tank if I need to.

I don't right now. I left my last one on top of my car and drove away. I'll be buying round number two soon though!

Sweet, I'm glad you bought one mike. I'm anxious to finally see someone put one of these through the paces in the real world. Instead of all the BS that's floating around that I wont even go into. Cant wait to see your results.

I actually run AIs on all my tanks right now, but I've been curious about Orphek simply because of all the bad press they get. I'm interested to see exactly what they can do.

Exactly! Pass or fail, at least we will be closer to knowing the truth.

I hope you don't mind me asking but, where did you get it from?

I'm curious as to what optics they REALLY use. To my eyes their spread is much too narrow for what they say they use. WAAAAYYYYY TOO NARROW. :)

And I really don't like that tank they call a timer. Huge and doesn't do anything. lol

    thanks Mike

    Directly from Orphek.

I'm curious about the same things. The timer seems like an overbuilt WalMart timer to me from seeing it online, but hopefully it will surprise me.

Not that it really matters but you know that some have felt that if one gets review product for free, they are unable to give an unbiased opinion. I for one have found that the majority of bloggers/reviewers are very honest in their reviews. I hope to here more from your review. I would really like to hear about comparison to the AI Sol White as I think you have those.

I totally agree. It's hard for anyone not to have a bias of some sort. This fixture is going in with my opinion already not looking good, so it's going to have to work for it. As far as I can tell though, Orphek no longer gives out anything to review. This is one that I wanted to test out bad enough that it was worth buying. Hopefully I'm not going to regret that:eek:

I definitely have a large amount of lights to test it against.
