Okay so my tank is about 5 months old and doing very well. Coralline growing, monti cap growing, all my LPS growing well. All doing great except for one thing... almost all of my soft corals. my gsp has not grown at all, xenia has gotten smaller actually, zoas seem happy but not growing. The only softies truly happy are my mushrooms which are shooting out babies left and right. Any ideas? im stumped

    cal: 450
    alk: 8.5 dkh
    mag: 1400
    ph: 8.0
    sg: 1.025
    temp: 82 (very stable)
    nitrates: 0
phos: no test kit... seems low though (no nuisance algae & sps growth)

i have 4 fish: yellow tang, clown, yellow tail damsel, purple dottyback.
cuc: 5 hermits, 7 nassarius snails, ceriths, large nerite snails, 1 big red linkia starfish

flow is overall moderate, my lighting schedule is 12 hours of blue (2 bulbs) and 4 hours of full daylight (6 bulbs). the bulbs are ati coral and blue plus, i skim 24/7, i run 3/4 cup of regular BRS GFO, have 2 units of chemipure elite, run 16 hours of refugium lighting opposite of the display lights mostly. i feed my fish basically everyday and LPS once a week. i change 15% of the water weekly with RO/DI water and reef crystals salt.

ask if any more info is needed, thanks for any help!

Sounds like my tank to a T, expect my mushrooms don't proliferate much (3-4 new ones in a 9 months).

my one mushroom is about at that same rate as yours, but i have a pink yuma ricordea that's given me about 10 babies in 6 months. everything else though is pretty dismal.

My guess is that your tank does not have enough nutrients in it.

Any ways to safely raise my nutrients without going over board?

And just wondering, could this cause my monti cap to appear a little pale in color too? Its very slightly bleached but towards the bottom of my tank, so its probably not from the lights... growing well though.

feed some reef riods - it will do wonders IMO.

i had the same issue with my softies - I also found that they seem to like higher flow than i thought.

Reef Nutrition Oyster Feast would be another option. Usually more for SPS, but I imagine it would help out the whole tank.
