    LOL. This came from a BBC nature article where it was called a "mushroom coral".

    I won't have a stable living arrangement until at least September, if not a little bit later than that, so a new tank has been put off for a while. I'll be back at some point though, once I have the time to be involved regularly ;D

    Which is the correct common name for these. Real mushrooms are a fungus; fungia=mushroom. Also consider how the appearance of a fungia coral resembles a mushroom cap quite well.
