frozen food to feed mandarin

    Nutramar Ova is specially created for mandarins and contains all their nutritional needs. Brine, on the other hand, has next to nothing.

    Nutramar Ova is good. Mine will eat about anything though as long as it's sitting on the bottom. Sinking pellets are great for this, but many may be more picky.

    As to brine shrimp, I was always told baby brine were nutritious and adults not. This may actually be a bit of a hobby myth, seems adults are too:

    And of course there is also enriched brine, which should have even more nutritional value.

    Indeed, some fish can live on brine alone, so it's not completely lacking. Other fish, however, need much more (or at least a good variety) and will eventually perish if only fed brine; from all I've heard and read, I believe the mandarin falls into the latter category.
