Resolved Found this snail(?) in my tank

    What is it? Is it good or bad? I removed it for the time being.

    It only has a partial shell, and it has little appendages on its side as well.

    Looks maybe like a stomatella. Google that and see what you think. If so its an algae eater so its like a free cleanup crew member!

    good... i had one (maybe two), then about a month ago i had about 15 baby ones all over the place :eek:

    It's a stomatella, these are great because they eat algae and will reproduce in your tank...

    I have a feeling they could be better than other snails, if left to populate simply because they can and will reproduce in your tank. Find another snail that will readily do that!

    Definitely Stomatella. I have a few myself and I understand they are harmless to fish and and corals and they eat algea.

    Thanks guys! I'll put him back in the tank then.
    My Zoa population has been dwindling, and I thought perhaps I had found the culprit, but found something very useful instead. We have plenty of algae in the tank for this guy to eat (mostly on the back glass, scrape it ever couple weeks).
