new to the world of saltwater fish and aquariums in general. how do you get your sump to drain as fast as your pump pushes the water back into the tank ?? I have a 100 gallon tank... a danner supreme classic and a aqueon proflex sump filtration model 3 and the pump Is by far faster than the over the back filter can drain!!!

Well it seems you need a bigger drain.

How many gallons per hour is being circulated?

You will have to calculate this and then size your drain pipes accordingly.

    Hope this helps a little.

You can throttle the pump back with a gate/ball valve until your overflow can keep up.;)
Make sure its instaled on the return side of the pump.
Pics of your setup will help our resident overflow/sump guys.lol
    What model pump is it?

Is a 20 gallon sump large enough? If the power cuts off after it's been running, I'd think it would overflow the sump.

As far as your problem, we need to know what the others asked.
