I have been a fan of Filter socks for a long time. There are alot of particulates in our systems that can take alot of work to remove. I myself am a not-so-diligent maintenance keeper so anything that can supplement my routine is a godsend!
{hilter socks meet this need. Once a week I can place them in my sytem, blow off my rocks, and let these fellas do their job. They also work great for catching the particulates of GFO and Carbon. My problem was finding a great method of securing the socks in my sump.
After a search and an hour or so of reading I settled on this guy!
[IMG] Easily made with standard PVC and a hand saw in minutes! (I used a table saw with gaurd and made myself two in about 5 minutes from setup to tank)
As you can see in this next image the pvc pipe lip matched up perfectly with the filter sock locking it into place securely! The Notch you cut to whatever your desired width to accommodate you your sump and then you are good to go!

Best part is, it cost around $5 depending on where you live! So get out there and make some reliable DIY equipment while spending your saving on frag to trade me!

The notch he cut goes over the rim of the tank, filter sock fits inside

Hey, nice DIY. Sure doesn't cost much!

Uh, oh. Vinnyboombatz is at it again. Good point...

Edit: Here did Vinny's post go? He was saying that it there's a possibility for it to overflow outside of the sump, if the sock gets clogged.
