I just noticed this today and I am not sure if they propagate this way, there is a hole in the middle of it and it sure looks like its separating to me.

Yes they do indeed reproduce that way, as well as budding and spawning.

ooohh!! I wonder how that's going to work? That Coral is on a very small branch of rock, it was hard enough to get it stand upward when it was one. Will the 2 pieces move away from each other?

At this point your could just cut the pieces apart and both should be fine.

Cool, it fragged itself for you. I had a leather that was too big for the rock it was on. Got it to stay and within no time it has overgrown the little rock and attached to the rock it was wedged in.
You can also do what Cheryl suggested and cut it and you should be good to go.

I had him for about 6 months now, before it starting splitting it had really nice polyp extension and the Coral really spreaded out. but when it started to split it stayed in tighter and the polyps not quite as extended either. I hope splitting is all it was.

Thanks oldfishkeeper! From what I can tell its totally separated, but I think where the red line is it is actually still not separated, hard to tell for sure and I don't know at all what the base is doing.
