My 95 gallon seesm to have completed cycling. its been up for only about 9 days now. Never had any ammonia or nitrate spikes at all. I have been using "stability" im not sure if this is why. Anyway, I have noticed alot of "ferns" growing on the live rock. I new to this saltwater thing, and im not sure if this is some sort of algae not. If it is algae is it good or bad. I have a bunch of the red algae growing on the live rock and im told this is benificial. I can post some pics if this woudl help the ID. I would appreciate any help this. cheers

    Pictures always help :)
If the red algae is cynobacteria, it is not helpful. If it is a macro algae like your "fern" algae then yes it could be beneficial as long as it doesn't grow out of control.
My wife likes to have a little macro algae growth in her tank also, it adds color. Me, I like all my macro algae growth in the refugium. That way I dont have to prune it or worry about it taking over the main tank.

If I had to go with a description of fern algae and no picture the first thing that would come to mind would be feather caulerpa.

Yep, they help. The red stuff is a macro algae. Common name is red grape.
The other stuff is too small to tell and I wouldn't worrry about it right now anyway. :)
