I just started a 75. My first tank with overflow. I turned off powerheads and fed some flake. Well, it pretty much just went right into the overflow. Any of you feed flake with an overflow and do you end up turning off your flow entirely?

You can soak it in tank water to get it to sink before adding to tank.

I just pinch in and hold it under water and let go. As soon as it reaches top it begins to sink. The fish smile everytime.

+1 on that. I do the same when I feed flake. A few pieces may go down the overflow. That's ok the critters in the fuge need to eat too.

+2 on dipping it in the tank. I do this for my cunner (the puffer wont eat flake!) and only a few flakes rise to float, it gets them in suspension in the tank, making it easier for groups of fish to eat.

Simply pinch it tight under the water then let the lump go fish will do the rest. I have yet to ever need and cut pumps off , I have close to 7,000 GPH circulating in the tank if not more and my pump throws about a true 1,000 GPH from the sump and 99% of all I feed are flakes ..
