    sounds good. we have the larger astrea tuber, but I think you mean the astrea tecta huh?

    Yes A tecta is the one I have, I have 3 generations in my reef set up now
    the babies are awesome for the tight areas on the rockwork IME

    oooh....you have them breeding? The problem I have with them in a commercial setting is that 7 might not tip over much, but 500 or so and it seems there is 10 tipped over all the time. Do you spend the time righting them, or do you try to sell them fast? I just stopped carrying them. They were popular though.... I want to build a better mouse trap to hold them though. I was thinking of building it on a tilt, so fallen shells slide down to an area that will give them something to climb up on...basically a ramp that hits a wall.

    That sounds like a great idea , John if they fall into a corner then they should very well be able to right themselves.

    they are definitely prone to taking on manouvers that they are just not capable of completing
    I must admit that the juvi's dont have this issue as much as the adults
    power to weight ratio , being slightly more in favour of the smaller ones

    smaller are usually better with snails is my feeling about the thing. the juvies live longer, are more adaptable etc...
