Emerald Crab?

Well i picked up today an Emerald Crab. Well at least what I thought was an emerald crab but the one I got is a pink/red color? The guy said it was an emerald crab and that they came in pink, brown, and green? Everyone I have read online says they only come in green? Is this true?
Did I get jipped and not get an Emerald Crab? If this is the case, anyone know what kind of crab I got. I don't have a picture because he's hiding but he's around 1-2 in big and pink/red in color.

 

emerald crabs are called that beacuse there emerald green, i wouldnt keep that crab you got in your tank.

 

Before we say that, lets get some pictures of your crab. Could be that it's a safe (good crab).

 

Well I can't get a picture of it but I looked around on ebay and it looks like this red one here. At least hes the same color.

they are calling it an emerald crab. is this wrong?

 

Well I just turned the lights on in my tank and there he was so I snapped some pictures.

its a mithrax crab which is basically the same as an emerald crab. should act in the same way really

 

+1 I've seen both green and red "emerald" crabs. I've never seen brown though.

 

Great pictures! I've never seen a red "emerald" crab before.

Here's a picture of one of mine. This one is really green and he decided to pose today. My other emerald crab is a much lighter green.

I love it! My other emerald crab is more "coraline pink" with green arms.
