I have one of these filters for my 55gal reef tank. However I also operate a DSB and Prizm skimmer in the same tank. The Eheim works well. Only thing to remember is that the pump is on the discharge side of the filter so its important for its function and efficiency to locate the suction closer to the filter and the discharge pipe further away from the filter. Its relatively easy to maintain and clean as the suction and discharges have a common shut-off valve. Tubing supllied is a little stiff so if space/configuration is an issue you may need to replace this with something more flexible. The variable flow facility is useful for giving the critters a little excitment!!.
