Has anybody ever used egg crating to create platforms or shelves within their liverock to set corals on? Just a though, I find that once in a while one of my corals will fall from where I placed it on my liverock and I thought it would be pretty nice to have platforms or shelves to set the corals on. The egg crating would eventually get encrusted with coraline and be virtually unnoticable.

thoughts or pics if this has been done before.

    Thanks

Sounds to me as though it might work if you can arrange the rock so that it would be somewhat hidden. I agree that sometimes it's difficult to find just the right spot for a certain piece....Let us know if you decide to do it!!

I used a plastic crate and cut it in half. I worked fine. I wanted the "ton of rocks" look but didn't want to pay for another 100# of live rock.
