Hi guys I just joined but I have a question about my ecosystem that I just bought. It wont fit under my tank so i wondered can I put it somewhere above my tank. If i did would I still need a overflow box and return pump. I was also thinking of putting half argonite sand and half live sand. do u think that would work. please tell me your opinions.

puting it above main tank s the best option . youll still need a pump to get the water to it. then just let it gravity flow back to the tank.this option requires no over flow box but you will need a check valve to keep it from flooding your tank if the power goes out.

Half and half is ok the argonite will become live in time. This saves $. just put the live sand on top.
How deep are you planning to go? 3-4" is best

How long should I wait to add plants to my refugium after I start it. What else beside plants can I add to my refugium like other inverts or fish. What kind of hoses should I use for my refugium.

What are you gonna use the fuge for? pod propgation or as a nutrient export. for pods i wouldnt put any fish in that defeats the purpose. a fuge is a safe haven for pods to reproduce w/o predation from fish.Unless the fish you put in wont prey on them.
Im using mine as both no fish in it just a hermit and some snails.
Oh yeah almost forgot...plants in as soon as the temp matches the tank

I was planning on only using it for nutrient export but how would I use it for pods too. What would I add or change? What kind of macro algae should I use in my refuge? Should I keep the lights on 24/7 or not?
