echinophyllia??? what is it?

    theres so many different looking pics when i google it...

    i have a frag that i acquired and i'm just wondering placement and how it will grow

    Echinophyllia is a type of chaliace coral. There are many different types of chalices with echinophyllia being one of the msot common. Most are a high light high flow kind of coral, slow growing with stinging tentacles that will kill other corals if too close. I believe they are also considered an SPS.

    As for what specific type of echinophyllia, posting pictures in the ID section would help greatly but even then it may be hard to pinpoint exactly what it is. One of the most common is the Hoolywood Stunner you can google that and see if it matches.
