I bought a 2 headed Australian Duncan at least one month ago. I target feed it every other day (sometimes 2 days in a row), via syringe, with Rod's Complete Reef frozen food. All of the accounts that I heave read from Dunacan owners say that they have sprouted multiple heads within one month (some of these people have never even fed the Duncan!). My Duncan is clearly healthy and my major params are all good...are there any elements that may inhibit the spreading of a Duncan?

Side note: My Florida Rics/Button Polyps/Snowflake Polyps are all splitting/spreading just fine.

I just acclimated my single head duncan today...and it hasn't spread yet either! :p I have no experience with them...but just 10 mins into my tank, it is fully open and waiting for food. :)

I just sprouted my first new head after having mine about a month to a month and a half. I wouldn't worry too much.

What are your phosphate levels? Excess phosphorus inhibits calcification.

I think they grow pretty fast, I am think of moving mine up, it seems to do better in the rockwork. It does not like anything touch it's stem. Also it is very sensitive to changes in SG, it likes 1.025 but the other corals like around 1.027 for me.

    :)

My single head sat as a single head for about 3 months, then all of a sudden it had about 8 heads - literally almost overnight. I would give it time.

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't tested phosphate levels. I really should grab a Salifert kit from my LFS.

Reasons my phosphates should be low:
    • Protein Skimmer to remove excesses
    • My Sea Salt has no phosphates
    • My 0 TDS water has no phosphates
    • Little to no (bad) algae in DT
I'm going to have to brush up on my phosphate knowledge (now) because I have none...

Overnight is an exaggeration, but saying they all popped up in one week wouldn't be.
