Well it's the start of another season of hunting dolphins, but amazingly things are a little quiet. 3reef has reported on this in the past, but the world has not known much about it until a documentary called 'The Cove' (trailer below) was released this year.

Putting this movie in my queue now...

Wow, didn't know they had a dolphin hunting season, I guess they didn't want anybody to know for obvious reasons but it's public now so I wonder ow this will affect the village since they probably plan on having the meat for food this time of year.

Good point. Could be just a supplement and not a staple of their diet.

there are worse videos on youtube involving dolphin hunting.. It will make you cringe and dislike the people in the film greatly.

no offense meant, but what is with the Japanese government? Ok I get it, whales and dolphins are a traditional food, but they are a traditional food to almost any culture if you go back far enough. Everyone else gave up on it, (almost), why do they continue? Especially in a modern/industrialized society, I mean do they starve over there? I used to spend a lot of time boating/diving in the Indian River Lagoon, which is home to a few pods of bottlenose. If you watch them for just an hour you can tell they are highly intelligent, far more so than just about any other animal you will encounter. I just dont get this...

I don't want this to turn into a bashing of the Japanese.
To be fair, A LOT of Americans, including this guy, like Sushi. Although I do not eat the above kind.
