Easier for me, since I order the IO 200 Gallon box, that comes in 4 bags. I dump the bags into a large bucket I have (like 8 gallon or something), and then distribute that mixture into 2 5 gallon buckets. Then, just add water. ;)

    lol

what would be the variable? only thing i can think of would be air and humidity getting in the salt bag and by consequence in contact with the salt itself. but if you close the bag properly and store in a dry place this quickly eradicates potential problems no?

when i do dose salt i use a plastic cup to transfer it to a larger 2 liter container that has been marked for quantities, i never just swoop one cup and poor it to the new container i kinda mix it around a bit, but this is more out ease that an actual intent of mixing the salt up.

so i guess my answer would be yes, involuntarily?

Well to tell a secret.. I'm still on my very first bucket. I will say I rolled mine for awhile and my wife was laughing at me saying I was nuts. I figured during shipment heavier minerals would sift toward the bottom.

Ya, I think that's the general idea is that heaver stuff would slowly shift downward.

Whether or not it happens, I couldn't tell ya. But it doesn't take much effort to shake it from time to time

Shaking salt is a bad idea. Have you ever shaken a box of lucky charms (cereal)? Do it for a couple minutes and open it up. You will notice that all of the marshmallows are on the top, and the grain pieces are on the bottom. This is because they are of slightly different densities.

The same goes for salt and calcium. And whatever else is in your salt mix.

So if you wan't to blend your salt, mix by hand (turning it over), but don't shake.

Good point, and why I roll it on the ground and tip it upside down.
