do i want this creature in my sump?

    This is in my sump live rock. I know this is a bad picture, it was the best i could get, looks like a small sea star to me? is this a nuisance star? Should i remove? photo.JPG

    There is not image, but it sounds like it's either a Asterina (most likely harmless but could be one of the rare zoanthid or coral eaters) or a Mini Brittle star which is harmless.

    Asterina!

    They reproduce by lateral fission, hence the reason people find them with partial bodies and central disk.

    Hundreds of different types, no dealing for sure what type you have. Population explosions are the most common problem.

    I wouldn't kill it unless you know it is doing harm. Most are harmless in my opinion.

    your nutrients go up, these seem to proliferate. you keep your nutrients low, parameters good and they seem to stay in check.

    at least what i have seen.
