Noticed yesterday that my Dog Face Puffer has a white/sandy looking appearance..... He appears to be distressed and breathing heavy. Didn't eat at all today. This evening I noticed that my tomato clown now has some of this sandy white stuff too! I've had the tank for just over two years and not really had any problems. I had what looked like typical ich a couple times when adding new fish, but this looks different.

    Help?!!?!?

Found that it was the velvet. Got some meds that wouldn't kill my inverts..... Lost all but my yellow sailfin tang and a couple chromies. =( Tank is flourescent green and will be that way for a while. Had done 50% water change and thought they were doing better. Came home to three dead fish the next day.

before getting any new fish, I would pick up a quarantine / hospital tank. this all could have been avoided with real (read: non-reef safe) meds in an isolated environment. sorry for all your losses.
