So I got a crocea clam a few weeks ago and it has been doing great. Firmly attached to the rocks, nice coloration, opens fully, never moved, everything. My question is, do they have off days where they just don't open like a coral will sometimes. A few days ago, it didn't open during the day and then spewed some white stuff out, waste I'm guessing. After the spewing it opened up just like normal. Is being closed for a day a normal occurrence for a clam?

    i see you haven't had a response.

i have had my crocea for a little over a week and it has not done what you described.

however, if it did, i probably would assume it is normal like any other of my corals, etc.

if it were like that for 3 days, I would become concerned.

    probably normal.

That's what I thought as well but just wanted to be sure. It was closed up all morning today and is just now opening up. It still looks healthy so that's always good.

Don't know, never seen a clam spawn before. I know how the whole spawning process works but not sure if this was it or not. It's possible though, what does their waste look like?

As long as it goes back to normal in a day or so, then I wouldn't sweat it.

I have seen clams have bad day's, and most times it is nothing to worry about.

I'm looking at it right now and it's fully open so I'm not too worried.
