I just bought 4 Korelia evolution to replace my old ones. I told my friend and he mentioned putting them on a timer to give the fish a break from the flow. I'm not so sure it's a good idea after having my fish for a couple years who are used to the flow 24/7. Anybody out there put their powerheads on a timer?

My MP40 goes into night mode, but my Koralia 4 just stays on. Most of my fish sleep in the sand or the rocks, so flow really isn't an issue for them.

i have a wavemaker function on my controller which toggles my powerheads... more of a coral thing than a fish thing

im not familiar with those types of powerheads but make sure it can handle being switched on and off before you try it. And ya its more of a coral thing, and they do benefit from the wave effect.

you have an mp40. I'm jealous.

Mine are on a controller also. the only ones that stay on constantly are 2 Koralia 3's which are on my back glass.

My tunze's shut down to 50% once the lights go out. Fish are all in the rocks and sand by that time. But by having the lower flow, my corals are able to feed on the stuff in the water column more easily. Feeding tentacles are always out.

I just got a new Koralia 3 and the box did say that they can be set up on a timer. CBS3315 is right though...the old ones can not be on a timer.
