I have never built a reactor or skimmer in my reef life. Now is as good a time as any.
I am planning a 170 build in the future, so this will help my water peram.
I decides to use 4'' x 1/4 acrylic tube it will bee 16'' tall.
In some of the pics you will see more than one being built.
A friend also needed some reactors built. He needed 2 for carbon and 1 for pellets. His are made with 6'' tube and are 18'' tall.

Set a jig on the tablesaw to cut the tubes

I hope this will get the water to tumble

Prep the tops and bottoms for a good flat weld joint

    High tech clamps

Need to get the water in to the bottom of the tube. This is only a mock up of the finished product. The design will be cleaned up in the later versions.

This do-dad will be covered with gutter guard to keep the media in the tube

The media cap is held in place with a pvc coupler cut in two

Needed a circle cutting jig for a lot of the parts for these reactors

The steel bracket holder slides up to the stop block. Makes for a safer cut.

    Jig works like a charm

Lining up the flange to glue to the tube

#16 was employed to weld the two together

The lids are the tricky part
    [IMG]

cut a groove for the o-ring on the lid
    [IMG]

    Flanges glued in place
    [IMG]

cutting the slots for the nylon nuts to hold the lids water tight

That's great to hear. I like it (just posted on that thread).

I finally have the stuff I needed for my tank. I just got my LEDs this month, sump is working properly, with quite a few corals now. I'm building a DIY pellet reactor and ato too.

Glad to hear you are jumping right in on the DIY projects. Do you have a link to your builds?

I had no dought you would be successful raising corals.
