When using the potentiometer on the dimmable driver it said not to use over 10v however is it a problem if I use a 5v, that's all I had on hand when wiring it together, if it is better to use 9v or 10v I can pick one up if need be ;D

I would assume 10v is 100% power, with 9v you could do 90% power max, it will work. Be sure to use a multimeter to ensure the power supplies accuracy.

Are you talking about using a 5 volt potentiometer on a 10v current?

I am assuming you are using a Meanwell dimmable driver.

If this is the case, a 5V source will light up your lights, but only to 50% of max power. This will get you up and running for now, and will give your corals a chance to acclimate to the new LEDs while you get time to get a 10V supply.

K this is all on my friends tank that I put together for him, I'll have him get the 10v power source then, just to clarify we got the dimmable retro fit kit for the 14g biocube and the 5v is attached to the potentiometer

    Yup... that is it.

The 10V signal tells the driver what percentage of full output to put out... 1V=10%, 10V=100%.
