I just had a thread the other day a bout drilling a glass tank. I checked the warnings that came with the tank...I don''t see anywhere on it that it says it is tempered. SO I drll away...about half way through drilling the first whole I hear a crackling sound...I stop drilling. Then the whole tank shatters and now I have a broken 75g on my drawing room floor. There goes $200.

If this build wasn't on hold before...I think it's done now.

Also, are all Deep Blue tanks made of tempered glass? I was drilling the back side.

Ugh, so sorry to hear this, especially after all your recent roadblocks.
    :(

Vacuum would be my preferred method.

It is a 14v Hiitachi. I just had a 1 - 3/4" diamond encrusted drill bit in it from Glass-holes.com. I used the same bit on my 29g with not problems what-so-ever.

Dad's not home right now so it will be difficult to move the broken tank...should I try to break the rest of the back panel out in large pieces? I have a broken tank in the middle of the walk-way to the kitchen...

I dont know what the purpose of a clutch on the drill is but does it have one? I read that the drill needs a clutch, im not sure why tho .
