Hi guys i have a problem,
I had a fairly small regal tang who i think has passed away, not sure why all my parameters look fine, and he was feeding ok.
My question to you all is, should i leave his body in the tank??

If i could get to it fine id remove it, but it looks as though he has gone into the rock and it will be a hell of a job to move it all to get the body out!!??

I have had previous fish die over the years and the hermit crabs have made light work of them, just conserned it might give me problems with water quality and i have many coral species now so dont want them to suffer.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    colin.

How big is the tank? How big is the CC?

If your tank is big enough, and you CC good enough, you may never even see a spike.

If at all I would try to remove it if possible, otherwise your cuc should make short work of it.

If you have a decent CUC let them do thier job. If they are under staffed then you should probably let what you have get something to eat for awhile then get it out before it causes a mini cycle.

So roughly 30 gallons? hmm. I'd probably get it out then before it causes an ammonia spike. You might want to consider expanding your cuc with some nass. vibex, shrimp or mithrix.

Definitely invest in some nassarius snails. When I had a fish die, those snails were the first ones to greet it. Pretty gross, but they do their job!

It wouldn't be dead if it weren't a blue tang and it weren't in a 30 gallon tank, and the whole problem would have been avoided.
